Emma is our resident Commander in Chief and leads the Absafe charge. As our Chief Executive, Emma manages the team, is in charge of strategy and planning, and is our spokesperson in the media (amongst many other things).

Her Absafe journey began in 2003, when she began working as Assistant Co-ordinator for the then Aberdeen Safer Community Trust. Her epic rise through the business saw her take on roles in project development and management, before becoming CEO in 2010.

Emma has been instrumental in our success and has led us to multiple accolades including the ‘Best Partner in Community Safety’ award from the Association of Scottish Neighbourhood Watches and the Silver Award for Home Safety, as awarded by the Scottish Accident Prevention Council.  Our recent Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service was spearheaded by Emma, and she recognises the award as a career highlight in her Absafe journey.

Emma has proudly appeared in multiple media outlets providing thought leadership and commentary editorial, including the Press and Journal, Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce’s Business Bulletin and Third Sector News. She’s also shared her safety know-how with industry leaders at the Step Change in Safety Share Fair in 2012 “Community Responsibility for Safety”.

Smart cookie Emma has a first class degree in both Chemistry and Law from the University of Sussex – somehow doing both degrees at the same time. She’s a self-confessed geek, with Emma citing sci-fi and computers as two of her favourite things.

You may not know that Emma is also a star of stage and screen, appearing in a TV series called Driving Ambition when she was two!
