What's the best thing about volunteering with Absafe?
The flexibility is the best aspect of volunteering with Absafe. You don’t have to sign up for a set number of days or weeks and are free to choose which day or days are most suitable to you. It is very rewarding to see how enthusiastic the children are and how their knowledge on health and safety is enhanced by the end of their visit.
What have you learned since volunteering with Absafe?
I have learned how Absafe training enhances and compliments safety awareness children get in school. The training has also been a refresh for me too.
Would you recommend volunteering to a friend?
I most definitely would recommend volunteering. If you have a few spare hours, Absafe is such a worthwhile charity to get involved with.
What kind of person do you think you need to be to be a volunteer?
If you are young or old, male or female you can volunteer. There is nothing very physical to do and I believe people with disabilities would also be able to take part. I think having an enthusiasm for all things safety-related would be useful.
What advice would you give to any new volunteers?
If you are thinking of volunteering I suggest you contact Absafe today to arrange an initial visit. You start off by observing sessions to decide if it's right for you without making any commitments. There is no requirement for previous training experience, so I’d encourage everyone to get involved.
